When asked to find information on something you would find out what it is about by pulling information from many resource. Then you would pull details.
Usually I will ask my self; what do I know about the topic? I first write what I know about the topic, and base my research on it. I look for key points and what that make the topic unique, and use keywords. Lastly I use quotations when using search engines to centralize my results to the topic.
